Computational Thinking - Callysto
The team at Callysto wanted to develop an online course that could be available to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Callysto is a program that helps teachers learn and use the Jupyter Notebook system in their classrooms to help instill the ideals of computational thinking.
Brief
Do you want to learn the basics of programming and how to apply computational thinking to your classroom? Then Callysto is the program for you. It covers the basics of computer programming and gives you the foundational knowledge of computational thinking that you’ll need to learn effectively, and to teach others.
The team at Cybera and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS) came to us with the challenge of helping them convert the in person seminar they’d been offering for the Callysto program, into an online course that could be available to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Callysto is a program that helps teachers learn and use the Jupyter Notebook system in their classrooms to help instill the ideals of computational thinking and to even teach some programming language to students in Grades 6 through 12. We built them a web based course that employs interactive tutorials, video learning and practical application to give teachers hands on experience building and using Jupyter Notebooks as well as the tools they need to share that knowledge with their students.
